Did you know the name “linoleum” is derived from two Latin words:  “Linum (linseed) + oleum (oil)?

Commercial applications for linoleum can be stunning!  And it’s a good “green” choice, too.  Linoleum is made from natural, raw materials:  Linseed oil which comes from the flax plant, is the primary ingredient.  More natural ingredients include some resins, a heap of limestone, a bit of powdered cork and don’t forget wood powder.  Then, non-toxic color pigments, mainly found in nature, are used to create today’s vibrant colors.  Jute fabric which is made of plant fibers, is used for backing (sheet floors).   Visit our showroom or www.heritage-floors.net for more beautiful choices.
